This course is designed to develop and assist delegates in attaining OPITO accreditation for OIM Controlling Emergencies standard. Coaching and formal assessments will take place in our purpose built simulator which can replicate the main features of the delegates own installation. The course combines practical and theoretical coaching sessions prior to undergoing formal assessment.
Who Should Attend?
- Offshore Installation Managers (OIM)
- Deputy OIMs
- Personnel who maintain a command position
All delegates undergoing assessment will need to provide supporting evidence of emergency response experience as OIM and to be considered ready for assessment by their employer.
It is recommended that all delegates attend the Major Emergency Management Initial Response Training prior to undergoing this coaching and assessment course.
All delegates will be provided with a series of theory and practical coaching sessions prior to undergoing an assessment against the OPITO standard. All delegates will be briefed on the specific requirements of the standard to achieve competence prior to undergoing any formal assessment. Delegates will receive coaching sessions on the skills and attributes needed to achieve the required standard. A number of practice scenarios within the simulator is also used to reinforce understanding and provide familiarisation of the processes. Formal assessment exercises will then take place which involves a minimum of 3 scenarios. The formal assessment process normally takes at least one day per delegate.
On successful completion of the course, the candidate will receive an OPITO certificate
