Recruiting – Health and Safety Assistant

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Assistant will assist the health and safety manager in the continued growth and development, as well as the operational and administrative running, of the Health and Safety Department.

The role will include, amongst others, supporting the Health and Safety Manager in:

Dealing with requests from current, prospective and past clients, conducting visits to their sites and preparing proposals, quotations and tenders accordingly; Conducting follow-ups and handling and responding to relevant queries and requests for clarifications;

Conducting, Health and Safety audits and risk assessments professionally and in accordance with current legislation and report writing following site visits, inspections, audits and investigations as required; Identifying appropriate measures to improve compliance with environmental legislation.

Ensuring internal compliance with Health & Safety regulations by conducting (within ISTC) regular health and safety inspections and internal audits, as part of the internal audit team, as well as offering support and advice on health and safety issues to internal and external stakeholders;

Assist in the development and delivery of basic health and safety training modules and the maintenance of health and safety courses’ accreditations.

Additionally, the person will be required to:

Develop effective working relationships with partner organizations including relevant entities and government authorities;

Maintain and produce company health and safety data and accident statistics where applicable, and providing regular reporting on health and safety activities;

Assist the Health and Safety Department in meeting its annual sales target;

Travel internationally to meet client requirements.


A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in health and safety. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience with a health and safety consultancy firm;

A NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent

Sound knowledge of local health and safety legislation

Excellent written and communication skills in both Maltese and English

Strong interpersonal and good problem solving skills

Ability to work under minimal supervision
